Abstract:

Supervision has been recognized as an integral part of
social work since the beginning of the professionalization process. In most
countries where social work has developed, there are standards for supervision
in the social work departments of universities, in social services agencies
(public or private) and professional organizations. In Turkey, supervision has
not been on the agenda except for the graduate and undergraduate social work
education processes. In Turkey -due to the need for supervision for social
workers and the increasing number of new social work departments- there is a
need to produce knowledge and conduct researches on supervision for both social
workers and students. In this article, firstly the definition, historical
development, different approaches and current debates of social work
supervision are summarized. Then some suggestions are offered to improve the
supervision system in Turkey.

Süpervizyon, meslekleşme sürecinin başlangıcından bu yana sosyal
hizmetin ayrılmaz bir parçası olarak kabul edilmektedir. Sosyal hizmetin
