Abstract:

This paper presents a critical reading of the Amazigh novel ADWAL (2023) by the Rifian author Mimoun Amsebrid. It examines the narrative’s engagement with the theme of nature through three interwoven literary frameworks: the epic, the tragic, and the mythological. These frameworks function, within the author’s artistic vision, as narrative strategies through which Amazigh literature seeks to achieve a stature comparable to that of world literatures—many of which emerged from the authenticity of their local and cultural roots. Across these three dimensions, the paper explores the novel’s motifs and narrative structures through a constellation of references that span Greek literary heritage, anthropological thought, and contemporary literary discourse. The objective is to propose an interpretive perspective that harmonizes with the author’s aesthetic and intellectual aspirations.
