Abstract:

Fuat Sezgin is a Turkish thinker who left important traces in world science history. He has brought a new perspective to the history of Islamic science with his studies. According to him, the history of civilization has been evaluated from the perspective of Western civilization and history. This attitude, on the other hand, created a false perception of Islamic civilization in the world and created an Islamic civilization mentality that did not contribute much to the history of civilization and was seen as incapable in the presence of Western civilization. However, the history of Islamic civilization is one of the breaking phases of human history. Because, advancing science and technology with the contributions of Islamic civilization has enabled new expansions to come into being in the world geography. This is why science, which is the common heritage of humanity, is not the work of a single nation or civilization. Science is the common product of nations.
Although the studies on Islamic civilization are incomplete, they have not been taken into consideration for various ideological reasons. The many Eastern discoveries, people, and places that have made the rise of the West are things that are ignored in a traditional perspective. Therefore, while writing the history of science, the value added by Islamic civilization to this history was not revealed. Fuat Sezgin has drawn a new route to the history of science with his ideas in the field of Islamic science history and his studies. At the same time, he brought the facts to light by proving the wrongness of the stereotypes and thus became one of the important names of world science historiography. In this study, the work named "Discoverer of Lost Treasure Fuat Sezgin" will be introduced and analyzed. The work aims to introduce this valuable scientist, who reveals that the history of sciences is the common product of humanity and that the Western civilization owes a lot to the Islamic civilization. The book in which Fuat Sezgin and his works are told makes important contributions to the works that tell our young people about our history of science, where there are very few works. Perhaps the most important feature of this review is that it is the first study done on the work.
