Abstract:

This article focuses on the literary genre of muamma, which originated in Arabic literature and later saw the establishment of its rules and the presentation of exemplary works in Persian literature. In Turkish literature, not only did poets engage in composing muamma, but there were also poets who translated and commented on Persian works in this field. Gelibolulu Sürûrî, one such poet, translated and annotated Mollâ Câmîs works, Hilye-i Hulel and Manzûme-i Muamma, shedding light on muamma examples in Turkish. The introduction of the study provides basic information about the muamma genre. The analysis section briefly introduces Mollâ Câmîs work Manzûme-i Muamma and provides information about Sürûrîs connection to Şerh-i Manzûme-i Muamma. Additionally, insights into the form and content of the scrutinized commentary are presented, along with a summary and a presentation of manuscript details. The final section of the study includes the comparative transcriptional text of the commentary based on three handwritten copies of the work. Şerh-i Manzûme-i Muamma is a Turkish commentary on a 66-couplet poetic treatise by Molla Câmî. This small versified treatise has also been commented on by Behiştî Ramazan Efendi d. 1571 and Abdullah Selâhaddîn Uşşakî d. 1873. In this study, Sürûrîs commentary on this small poetic treatise is examined. The commentary divides the muamma genre into three parts: instructional tahsîlî, complementary tekmîlî, and amplifying teshîlî. The instructional part encompasses four sections: intikâd reproach, tahlîl analysis, terkîb composition, and tebdîl alteration. The complementary part involves three aspects: telif composition, iskât-tahlis abrogation-exemption, and kalb rejection. Each type is defined first, followed by essential information for understanding, and then examples are analyzed.

Bunlardan biri olan Gelibolulu Sürûrî, muammâ türünü konu edinen Mollâ Câmînin Hilye-i Hulel ve Manzûme-i Muammâ eserlerini Türkçeye tercüme ederek buradaki muammâ örneklerini şerh etmiştir. Bu makale, muammâ türünün tarifinin ve çeşitlerinin ele alındığı Sürûrîye ait Şerh-i Manzûme-i Muammâ eserinin incelenmesinden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmanın giriş bölümünde muammâ türü hakkında temel bilgiler verilmiştir. İnceleme bölümünde Mollâ Câmînin Manzûme-i Muammâ eserinin kısaca tanıtımı yapılmış, Şerh-i Manzûme-i Muammânın Sürûrîye aidiyeti hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Şerh-i Manzûme-i Muammâ eseri Molla Câmîye ait 67 beyitlik küçük bir risalenin Türkçe şerhidir.
