Abstract:

Many studies have been carried out on the sources and characteristics of waste, the negative effects of inappropriate sorting and examples of good practice. The study sought to answer the question of how waste is managed in different countries. In order to answer the study question, the technique of document analysis, which is a qualitative research method, was used. In this context, a descriptive approach was preferred by examining the reports of major international environmental organisations on the subject, as well as national and international library searches. As a result of the study, the concept of solid waste was defined and conclusions were drawn as to which materials can be classified as solid waste. It also discusses the forms of solid waste in different countries and makes policy recommendations for solid waste management in developed and developing countries.
