Abstract:

The aim of this study is to adapt the Populist Attitude Scale PAS into Turkish. In this context, the Populist Attitude Measurement scale, developed by Akkerman et al. 2013 and consisting of three sub-factors, was used to conduct the necessary validity and reliability studies and to adapt it into Turkish. In the process of adapting the scale, Brislins back-translation method was employed to ensure linguistic and cultural equivalence. This method ensures that the original meaning of the scale is preserved while being translated into the target language. During the translation and adaptation process, expert opinions were sought, and necessary corrections were made. Validity and reliability studies of the scale were conducted with 310 participants selected from 21 neighborhoods in the Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul. The main findings of your study focus on the confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis of the Populist Attitude Scale PAS, providing a framework for measuring populism. The analyses confirmed the three-factor structure of the PAS, indicating that the scale is a valid and reliable tool. Consequently, your study presents significant research for the measurement of populism. The validity and reliability of this scale, used to understand and evaluate the impacts of populism on the political scene, can make a substantial contribution to populism research.
