This study aimed to identify the role of strategic planning for social development in the Ministry of Labor and Social Development to achieve the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The study also examined the degree of alignment between the long-term goals/objectives of social development and that of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. Societal development and quality of life are at the center of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, hence, the alignment of goals/objectives between the two is crucially important to achieve those goals. Furthermore, the study examined the contents of the long-term objectives of the Vision 2030, pertaining to social development, and how closely it is tied to current practices in social development. Lastly, the study highlights the importance of understanding the capabilities, preferences, and personality traits of future social development employees to achieve long-term goals/objectives. In order to carry out this study, researchers used a mixed-method approach: analytical and descriptive. A questionnaire was developed and validated to collect the data. The sample for this study consisted of managerial level employees who are working in the social development field from different regions in the Kingdom. The sample consisted of 116 employees, recruited using purposive sampling. The study uncovered several findings. First, the study revealed statistically significant relationship between strategic planning for social development and the social development aspect of the Kingdom’s Vision of 2030. The results also illustrated lack- of -practice for strategic planning in social development. Finally, the study suggests that emphasis on strategic planning in social development results in increasing the likelihood of achieving the Kingdom’s Vision of 2030 and its future goals for societal development.
