 يهدف هذا البحث إلى اختيار ومناقشة إمكانية تطبيق ومزايا نظام ABC في المستشفيات. وتم اتباع المنهجين الوصفي والعملي فيه، وتقع الدراسة في ثلاثة مباحث رئيسية: -خصص المبحث الأول لتوضيح خصائص نشاط المستشفيات والدراسة السابقة التي تناولت تطبيق نظام ABC في المستشفيات واستعراض ما توصلت إليه.أما المبحث الثاني فقد تناول الجانب العملي، حيث تم تطبيق نظام ABC في أحدث المستشفيات في الأردن على قسم التحليلات المرضية والذي يقوم بإجراء أربعة أنواع رئيسية من التحليلات (الدم، الإدرار، البراز، والخصوبة).وتم قياس تكلفة كل نوع من التحليلات السابقة بموجب النظام التقليدي ونظام ABC وتم تخصيص المبحث الثالث لنتائج الحالة العملية والاستنتاجات حيث جاءت نتائج قياس التكلفة متباينة في ظل النظامين.حيث بلغت التكلفة في ظل نظام ABC: 6.298، و1.450، و1.203، و13.031 لكل نوع من التحليلات الدم والإدرار والبراز والخصوبة على التوالي. فحين كانت التكلفة في ظل النظام التقليدي 6.200، و1.255، و1.025، و17.770 لكل نوع من التحليلات السابقة على التوالي.والسبب الجوهري في اختلاف النتائج هو اعتماد النظام التقليدي على أساس واحد في تحميل التكاليف غير المباشرة؛ في حين أن نظام ABC هو اختلاف منهجية تحميل التكاليف غير المباشرة في النظامين، ففي النظام التقليدي يتم التحميل على أساس واحد (ساعات العمل المباشر أو ساعات تشغيل الآلات) أما نظام ABC فقد تم تحميل التكاليف على أساس أكثر من عامل (مسبب التكلفة) ويكون عامل التحميل مناسب لنوع التكلفة.وختم البحث بعدة استنتاجات وتوصيات يراها الباحث ضرورية.
                  This research aims basically to test and discuss the possibility of applying as well as the advantages of the Activity Based costing (ABC) in hospitals, the descriptive and practical approaches were adopted. The research falls into three main sections. The first section clarifies the characteristics of hospital activities, previous studies that tackled the application of ABC in hospitals, and reviews their results. The second section is the practical part where the ABC system was applied in a jordanian hospital at the pathological examination department which undertakes four main types of tests (blood, urine, excrement and fertility). The cost of each type of analysis was measured in accordance with the traditional system and the ABC system. The third section is devoted ti the practical results and the conclusions. The results con¬cerning the cost measurement were variable in both systems. The cost within the ABC sys¬tem was: 6.298, 1.450, 1.203, and 13.013 for each of the blood, urine, excrement and fertility tests respectively. Whereas the cost within the traditional system was: 6.200, 1.255, 1.025 and 17.770 for each type of the above mentioned tests respectively. The main reason behind variance in results id due to the variance of the methodology in allocating indirect costs in both systems. In the traditional system the allocation is done in one basic (direct labor or machine hours), while in ABC costs were allocated on the basis of more than one factor (cost drivers) which may be suitable for the cost item. The research ends with a number of conclusions and recommendations.
