Abstract:

The article explores the creative interplay between Ivan Turgenev and George Sand within the context of the intercultural dialogue of French and Russian literature. The similarities and differences in their artistic styles, genre structures, stylistic features reflect the epoch itself, which imposes its own rules, laws, aesthetics, and worldview. The fusion of epic and dramatic elements in the works of Turgenev and Sand stems from their reflection of the individual destinies of the hero against the backdrop of historical events and the essence of life itself. Both direct creative exchanges and mediated indirect influences stemming from the broader cultural milieu, epoch, and worldview are analyzed. Biography and creative output are closely intertwined, suggesting a metatextual quality in both authors, wherein character actions and events are interpreted through the prism of the authors real lives. Additionally, the application of the biographical method in analyzing these relationships and the impact of the socio-cultural paradigms on the lives and works of these literary figures are discussed. The realm of art as a subject of representation, serving as a backdrop for understanding the inner worlds of characters in Turgenev and Sands works, merits particular attention. The constructive role of art in the shaping individuals spiritual worlds, particularly during periods of social crises and upheavals, is evident. Specific reviews and critical assessments of their artistic creations, as well as direct communication between Russian and French authors, are highlighted. Examining the interconnections and creative exchanges between Turgenev and Sand outlines the prospects for further comparative research on a wider material. Furthermore, the comparative-historical analysis of these writers creative works could serve as the basis for typological generalizations and theoretical insights.
