Abstract:

In parallel with the technological changes, culture has found new possibilities of expression. In this direction, the virtual culture environment that emerged with the increase in the use of the internet has created a unique structure by feeding on the oral and written culture before it. In this environment, other media items, especially cinema, are available on online websites. Netflix is one of these websites. The number of users increases day by day in the world and Turkey is the most effective factor in the choice of Netflix. Some of these are that it has many domestic and foreign TV series, films and documentaries, the duration of the content is shorter than the television productions, and it does not contain advertisements. It is seen that there are elements that became cliché in the cultural environment before it in many content published on this site. Some of these are related to the presentation of local and urban identities in Turkish cinema. With the development of technology in the globalizing world, communication and transportation have been facilitated, and the significant differences between societies have almost disappeared with the successful operation of many industries. However, there have not been great changes from the past to the present in the display of local and urban identities in cinema. In this context, local and urban identities, which have become a cliché in the series Bir Başkadır, which is published in a total of eight episodes in the virtual environment, will be examined through male and female characters.
