Abstract:

Hayâlî
is one of the greatest poets of the 16th century and the classical Turkish
poetry. In this paper, Hayâlî’s ghazel with the rhyme of “satar” is discussed. Ghazel
was interpreted with classical method and then examined in terms of sound and word
repetitions. Sound and word repetitions were expressed within the scope of a
structuralist understanding. Hayâlî’s ghazel with  the rhyme of “satar” was written with Remel
Bahri’s form of “fâ’ilâtün
fâ’ilâtün fâ’ilâtün fâ’ilün”. Ghazel has a whole rhyme. The number of
words used is 88 and 23 of these words are induced. In ghazel, there are shortened and shut-open words. Assonances and alliterations
were performed using the sounds “a” and “n” frequently. Hayâlî’s use of Arabic, Persian and Turkish in close percentages
proves his dominance over three languages. Minstrel and beloved are seen in Hayâlî’s ghazel. It is seen that the minstrel adores the beloved and displays a didactic
character. The beloved, on the other hand, comes to the fore with its beauty. In
his ghazel, Hayâlî gives advice on being abstemious.
