Abstract:

The Qaseda-i Burdah of Imam Busiri, written in order to praise the Prophet, is one of the important odes in Turkish literature that has been translated and commentated in verse and prose. Since the period when it was written, this poem has been highly sought after by Turkish poets both because of its literary characteristics and to attain the intercession of the Prophet. As a reflection of the Turkish love for the Prophet, this ode was read both in the social field at ceremonies such as weddings, holidays, funerals, and at the same time, it is annotation, tahmis, tesdis, tesbî and translation by scholars and poets. Şeyhzâde Muhyiddîn Efendi from İzmit, one of the important hashiye writers of the XVI century, wrote this ode in Arabic and translated the work in Turkish and verse. This poem, which can be considered an exact translation of Büsiri’s ode, consists of 163 couplets. This translation with archive number 06 Mil Yz A 7711 is available in the National Library. In our study, the life and works of Şeyhzâde Muhyiddîn and Imam Büsîrî were briefly mentioned, and then the translation of an Qaseda-i Burdah consisting of 163 couplets was examined. Finally, the text of the Turkish verse translation of Qaseda-i Burdah was translated into translators.

Hz. 06 Mil Yz A 7711 arşiv numaralı bu tercüme, Milli Kütüphanede bulunmaktadır. Çalışmamızda Şeyhzâde Muhyiddîn’in ve İmam Büsîrî’nin hayatı ve eserlerine kısaca değinilmiş, ardından Kaside-i Bürde’nin 163 beyitten oluşan tercümesi incelenmiştir. Son olarak Kaside-i Bürde’nin Türkçe manzum tercümesinin metni çeviri yazıya aktarılmıştır.
