Abstract:

The relationship between technique, social change and transformation is a fundamental debate. As Mary Shelley has shown in his novel named Frakenstein, the technique sometimes not only transforms human relations but sometimes begins to dominate, direct and shape it. The establishment of the printing press, the invention of the telescope, and the use of gunpowder marked the history of humanity. From this point of view, the technique cannot be understood technically in its pure sense. In this article, starting from the Yeşilalıç neighborhood /village of Saray district of Van district, analyzes have made based on the data obtained from field observations and interviews regarding the effect of the technique on human relations. Based on a qualitative research and interviews with the selected target audience, it was compared, in the article, human relations before electricity and tractor arrived the village and the relations after electricity and tractor arrived. In this respect, the sample of Yeşilialıç village, which was far from the center and relatively unaware of technology, was chosen as a study area. The main goal here is to make a clear inference between pre-technology and post-technology. Of course, technique is a broad concept. Many vehicles such as wheelbarrows, shovel, wheels, sickles are actually technical. In this respect, especially electric and tractor were determined as focus.
