Abstract:

In global space,
one of the sub-targets to rise out of all the other cities and to receive a
share from the capital is to create images for cities. Thus the urban
regeneration projects started to gain importance. According to the knowledge of
constantly transformation of cities, what is the difference between cities’
natural transformation and urban regeneration? This study discussed the
active/passive roles of urban design and planning via focusing on urban
regeneration’s implementer role for creating urban image in capital-oriented
process. The result showed that both urban design and planning’s situation
which is not getting rid of being a variable for economy, will cause lots of
contradictions’ (such as the social, economic, etc.) continuation in cities.
Thus, both space arrangement tools have to make implementations based on the
interfered nature’s and the natural and social human being’s requirements and
possibilities.

Kentlerin,
