Abstract:

Many of the Mutakhireen (later) commentators of the Qur’an adopted the approach of some of the Tabieen (the 2nd Generation after the prophet) to arrange and classify the chapters of the Qur’an. Al Tahir bin Ashour followed this method the most. The researcher will explain the meaning of the classification of the chapters, the history of this classification, some useful rules in this regard and the efforts of Tahir bin Ashour and his commentary on the writings of the followers. The researcher will present a review on the opinion of Tahir ibn Ashour on the classification of some of the chapters. The researcher concluded the following results:
1.	The classification of the revelation of the chapters from the important parts which were relied on about the abrogator, the abrogated, the reasons for revelation and linking the themes of the Quran with the revelation of convergence.
2.	There are the hadiths which clarify the timing of the revelation of a lot of chapters and verses but they talk very less about the verses and the chapters which were revealed before or after that.
3.	One who knows the characteristics of Makki and Madani Surahs (chapters), thinks of the sunnah and the Prophet's biography and looks into the acts and deeds of the companions is aware of the reality of the revelation of some of the chapters and verses.
4.	Most of the commentators of the Qur’an who came later adopted the approach reported to be linked to Jabir bin Zaid in the classification of the revelation of the Qur’an. It has nothing correct.
5.	Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-Tahir ibn Ashoor focused on the classification of the chapters in the beginning of the interpretation of each chapter. He has followed Jabir ibn Zayd in most of his classification. He opposed him at very few places.
6.	The researcher found the error in the classification of some of the Makki and Madani chapters made by the authentic narrations of some of the companions and the Tabieen (The 2nd generation after the prophet) in the opinion of Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-Tahir ibn Ashoor. The researcher has presented his evidence in this regard
