Abstract:

Ecology is one of the most prominent currents of contemporary philosophy. It aims at present the case with a new vision that was not dated in the modern era, and it calls for a positive change for societies through the efforts of thinkers and philosophers in addition to raising awareness about environmental problems. Furthermore, it explains the need of humanity to Social ethics associated with respect for the environment in an attempt to search for the roots of the contemporary environmental crisis. In this regard, environmental philosophers often return to their predecessors. Their evaluation varied positively and negatively between those who find the origins of environmental concern, and those who criticize them on the grounds that their view of the world does not agree with the possibility of developing environmental morals; therefore, Greek philosophy deserves a re-examination and evaluation, to explain how and to what extent it can relate to the environment, and how the direction adopted by the philosopher can affect the way people should live. The study will depends on the historical and descriptive approaches that are based on observation and monitoring, then analysis. The study is divided into an introduction that includes the definition of the topic, its importance, objectives and methodology of the study, followed by a presentation of the environmental crisis, and how it relates to all fields of human activity plus the role of philosophy in it, and the research includes three axes as follows: First: Introduction to Ecology. Second: the signs of ecology before Socrates. Third: Socrates' environmental revolution. In conclusion, we can say that it is the ecological (Socrates) has tried to create a language that holds the correct meaning of truth. He always sought justice and goodness alone. He has shown that a person can die, not only for the sake of fate, or reputation or other similar great things, but also for the freedom of critical thinking, and self-esteem that has nothing to do with self-esteem or coordination with emotion.
