Abstract:

The research highlights the most important architectural features that are climate-responsive within the architecture of ancient Iraq civilizations (Sumerian, Babylonian, and Assyrian) with different governance functions of palaces and worship buildings. The research included the presentation and analysis of specific design indicators of the characteristics of the microclimate of the buildings, through the construction of a database of indicators (building angle, elongation ratio, rate of elongation rate of interior spaces, deriving the standard deviation of the elongation rate of internal spaces as a function of the horizontal dimensions of the building plan, The above-mentioned variables were derived from the horizontal dimension schemes, the number of buildings according to the selective sample was (8) buildings distributed by (4) buildings within the Sumerian civilization, (2) buildings belonging to each of civilizations of the Babylonian and Assyrian. A descriptive analytical approach was used based on a database of design indicators that have been shown to influence the microclimate properties of buildings. The research concludes with several results that can be summarized as follows: 1- The variation of the rate of elongation of the internal spaces, the Sumerian Palace has presided the rest of the Sumerian buildings in terms of the climate suitability of the internal spaces amounted to spaces (65.11%), and the building of the Palace of Zamri did in Mary for the Babylonian civilization, while the convergence of the index for Assyrian civilization. 2- The variation of the standard deviation of the elongation ratios of the internal spaces. The Palace and the Temple of Sushinpresided the rest of the Sumerian buildings in the index (0.31), which indicates the low level of space gradient, which leads to increased variability in the detailed climate characteristics within the building spaces, as the building of Nunmakh Temple The Babylonian civilization has an index of (0.31), whereas the index is close to the Assyrian civilization.
