Abstract:

In this article, the last work of V.G. Rasputin, one of the leading realist writers of contemporary Russian literature, is the long story Ivans Daughter, Ivans Mother, which deals with the moral collapse, injustice, the relationships of individuals with each other, the loss of traditional values, curiosity towards the foreign and underestimation of ones own values, etc. caused by some negative situations of modern life, from a socio-psychological perspective. The subjects discussed in the work are examined in a social and individual context, and the moral collapse of modern Russian society, identity crisis, the justice system and the loss of traditional values are analyzed in depth. V.G. Rasputins work Ivans Daughter, Ivans Mother is a story that deeply addresses the social injustice, identity crisis and moral decay in the modern world. The work emphasizes how village life and traditional values weaken in the face of modern city life, and especially how individuals are forced to seek their own justice with the collapse of the justice system. The protagonist, Tamara Ivanovna, is disappointed in her search for justice after her daughter Svetlana is raped by a Caucasian and is eventually forced to seek her own justice. Rasputin symbolically portrays the corrupt justice system and the moral decline of society through the market, while drawing attention to the loss of identity along with the interest in foreign cultures. The work offers a critical perspective on the helplessness of individuals in the face of the modern world and the erosion of social values.
