Abstract:

The present study was conducted to determine the effects of family sense of coherence on life satisfaction in adult individuals. The sample consists of 490 adult individuals. Family Sense Of Coherence Scale- Short Form and Adult Life Satisfaction Scale were used to collect data. According to the results of the study, men had higher family sense of coherence scores than women. According to the results of the correlational analysis between the scales, statistically significant and positive relationship was found between the total family sense of coherence and total life satisfaction scores. If individuals find the reactions of other family members understandable and manageable, and if they can attribute a meaning in this sense, their life satisfaction increases. According to the results of the Simple Linear Regression Analysis that was made in the study, it was found that 19 of life satisfaction can be explained by the family sense of coherence. The family has an irreplaceable function in covering all physiological, psychological, and social needs of an individual at every stage of development throughout life, starting with birth. It is always accepted that a healthy society will consist of happy individuals. In this respect, studies can be carried out to increase the family sense of coherence based on the individual in the family.
