Abstract:

This study deals with the development of the short story written by the Arab women during the first decade of the third millennium highlighting the concept of "culture", which gathers both knowledge and aesthetic through examining system of thinking, applications of this system and matrix of standards.
The applied part of this study examines two collections of short stories which are: (Duwar Al- Barr) "Dizziness of the land" of the Egyptian Rania Hilal and (Irth Al- Ightirab) "The legacy of alienation/ Tales from South filly" of the Palestinian American Susan Mu'addi Darraj.
Hilal's Short stories reflected the latest development women's identity issue through the stage of cultural privacy, whereas Darraj's collection reflected the relationship with the American as "the other" highlighting in a new approach the issue of the national identity of the younger generation of the Diaspora, which constitutes the fourth generation of Arab writing in America.
