Abstract:

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between future anxiety and happiness levels in health management students, in relation to their social background and academic performance. This cross-sectional study included 406 participants enrolled in health management programs as undergraduate students at several foundation and state universities in Turkey. The data were collected through an online survey method using the Future Anxiety Scale for University Students and the Oxford Happiness Scale Short Form, and it was found that the scales used in the survey were reliable and normally distributed. When the results were examined, it was found that there was a moderate negative r-0.565 and significant p0.05 relationship between future anxiety and level of happiness of health management students. In addition, the difference tests revealed that there was a significant difference between students age, gender, place of residence and willingness to choose the department and their future anxiety; however, it was found grade level and grade point average did not differ significantly. As a result, studies aimed at reducing students future anxiety can positively affect factors such as life satisfaction, creativity, productivity, and communication, increase students happiness levels and satisfaction with life, and have a positive impact on becoming more useful individuals to society.
