Abstract:

Molecular mechanisms of the relationship between smell and sleep quality were discussed. The sense of smell is a sense that is used more than other senses in human life. Smell is an important sensory function that enhances the quality of human life, such as defining the flavor of the food we eat. Some scents can be stimulating or have a soothing effect on people. At the same time, the use of stimulating aromatherapeutic scents can positively affect sleep quality. Sleep quality is the state of feeling fit, fit and ready for a new day after waking up. Sleep quality can be affected by multiple factors. As an example to these; life style, working life, social life, economic situation, environmental factors, stress situation and general health status. Sleep quality is essential for good sleep. Aromatic scents can be used during sleep to improve sleep quality. By using aromatherapy with natural scents, sleep quality and thus quality of life can be increased.
