Abstract:

One of the most prolific and significant novelists and storytellers in Turkish literature is Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpnar. Despite the fact that he incorporates a variety of themes into his works, he mostly reflects the psychological, social, and cultural landscape of the society. As novels and stories in general are appropriate for sociological readings, conducting women-oriented research in this study produced a significant amount of material on the topic. Every period generates discussion topics on womens education, professional lives, social roles, pressures they face from society, and their loves and hobbies. Gürpınar who dealt with the corrupt aspects of social life, morality, and honor problems cannot but consider that patriarchy is an ideology founded on the subjugation of women. The novel Evlere Şenlik Kaynanam Nasl Kudurdu? by Hüseyin Rahmi examines in depth how gender roles emerged in society in a way that distinguished men and women. This paper made a contemporary criticism on gender based on how Makbule Hanım, the groom Osman Zihni, and her son Ali Harun surrounding her, have a say in the name of patriarchy, and that gender is not mere a problem and a weakness of women. The novel written in a masculine style by Osman Zihni, plainly explains how women are evaluated within the context of patriarchal thought. The events and characters in the story attempt to convey broad, true judgments about women and how they are forced into a submissive role.
