Abstract:

Abstract :
The topic of our research studies the position of art in Marcuse Herbert’s philosophical discourse. We have tried to find out the answer to the principale problematic which is: how did Marcuse use art to criticise the developed industrial civilization? and why? Our problematic aims at showing how did Marcuse use both the critical and the revolutionary dimension in art to free the other ones, which were repressed by the instrumental reason. Therefore, we had to use methodological research based on analysis so as to reach some results: according to Marcuse art is a space of freedom and a promise of liberation.
Keywords: aesthetic; release; repression; civilization; instrumentalization.
