Abstract:

The Seven Years War resulted from the aggressive policy of King Frederick II of Prussia and the rivalry between Britain and France over colonial territories. Russia was involved in this war on the anti-Prussian side, on the side of Austria and France, to take the East Prussian territories and to seize the Baltic coast. Russia was victorious in most of its battles with Prussia in the war and captured East Prussia and the Baltic coast. Disagreements between the Allies prevented Prussia from being decisively defeated and withdrawing from the war. France and Austria were reluctant to see Russia making major profits and growing stronger. Russia, which had mobilized all its resources for the war and achieved success during the reign of Tsarina Yelizaveta, withdrew from the war with the peace treaty signed with Frederick II by the Prussian admirer Peter III, who ascended the throne after the death of the Tsarina. With the peace treaty, Russia relinquished all its gains.
