Abstract:

Horses have a significant place in Turkish culture and history due to their merits on the battlefields and the tasks they undertook in communication. This importance attached to the horse has also influenced literature; many works have been written about the horse that include various names, qualities, objects, beliefs and dreams. Poems that depict the horse and about horses are called rahshiyah. Although the oldest examples of the rahshiyah genre are seen in the 15th century, the most beautiful rahshiyahs are seen in Nefis poems. Another noteworthy example of the rahshiyah genre is the qasida eulogy written by Bosnian Sabit d. 1712 for Seydizade Mehmed Pasha d. 1684. One copy of this qasida, which is included as the seventeenth work in the Sabit Divan published by Turgut Karacan, was encountered in the poetry journal registered in Suleymaniye Manuscript Library, Ali Nihat Tarlan Section, number 21 and it was seen that there were significant differences between the two qasidas. In the study, first of all, information was provided about the life, literary personality and works of Bosnian Sabit; and then the copies of Divan in which the rahshiyah text was recorded and the journal in which the text was discovered were introduced. In the next part of the study, the transcribed text of the qasida found in the journal was included. In the last section, a comparison was made between the qasida in the journal and the qasida in Divan. The differences determined during the comparison were classified under various headings and brought to the attention of the researchers; in this way, the development process of the qasida was revealed.
