Abstract:

Since the beginning of history, the woman, who has been attributed with holiness through the representation of blessing and fertility in religious, mythological, and historical sources, and representing life, regeneration, increase, and wealth in this respect, has also been considered as the symbol of wisdom, grace, attractiveness, and beauty. Women, who changed, transformed, and convert to the physical and psychological experiences she experienced in each of her ages, which had unique symbolic meanings to follow the natural process of youth, maturity, and old age, continued her life as an entity that embodies many contrasts at the same time. Hence the paradox that she is as dark as she is light, as rejecting as she is attractive, as destructive as she is constructive. A woman who always has a story to tell, a song to sing, advice to give has taken its place in cultural products both with her own words and in other myths. In this context, when it comes to women, classical Turkish poetry, which reveals the mental performance of mesnevi rather than ghazal texts depicting a genderless/ aestheticized beauty, presents a woman from the middle of social life with a “dâye” woman, which today is called a 'dâye' woman, who is known by names such as wet-nurse and caregiver, is the subject of this study as one of the female figures mentioned in classical poetry. With an approach by nature and collective consciousness, attributing milking, nurturing, and raising to the young, wisdom to the mature or old, in this study in which the physical characteristics, character traits, duties, and responsibilities of 'dâye' are discussed, a profile of the wise woman who opens up the hero's psychological freedom area, guides with her advice, and cures his problems, especially in love masnavis has been drawn. Addressing the cunning, mysterious, and dark aspects of this woman, who shows up with the milk on her breast, the color of her skin, and the tune on her tongue, is also within the scope of this study.
