Abstract:

Grimms Fairy Tales, one of the most important products of German folklore, are still very popular narratives today and show themselves in the different branches of art by going beyond the childrens literature over time. Little Red Riding Hood has especially become a fairy tale that is frequently encountered in various fields today in terms of literary analysis. In the context of intertextuality, postmodernism in literature has adopted the principle of including all kinds of traditional or literary narratives in the text by filtering them through eclectic thinking. In this sense, folk narratives containing supernatural structure elements have taken their place in literary texts with new appearances with postmodern literature, as they are quite favorable in the context of reality that postmodern literature tries to create. Originated from myths, Little Red Riding Hood is a functional narrative because there are many symbols, motifs, concepts and question-answer chains symbolized by fairy tales. After it attracted the attention of postmodern artists with its richness and functionality, Little Red Riding Hood was carried to postmodern works through intertextual methods and became one of the narratives reproduced in terms of both form and content. In this study, the narrative function of Little Red Riding Hood in the works of the postmodern authors such as İhsan Oktay Anar, Şebnem İşigüzel, Nedim Gürsel and Mine Söğüt will be examined. The effects of Little Red Riding Hood on their novels, in terms of the symbols and motifs and the unconscious concepts, the causes and consequences of the intertextual methods applied by the writers were discussed within the context, while the transformation of the tale in the meantime.
