Abstract:

This study aims to examine the influence of soft power on the decision-making process of Thai students in choosing to study in Türkiye. The research employs a qualitative methodology, based on data obtained from in-depth interviews with 10 participants. The study explores Thai students educational experiences in Türkiye through three main dimensions: the decision-making process, the impact of Türkiyes soft power, and integration experiences. The findings indicate that cultural and educational factors, alongside an interest in Türkiyes historical heritage and Ottoman past, significantly influence Thai students decision to study in Türkiye. Additionally, educational opportunities, such as the Türkiye Scholarships, and Türkiyes cultural diplomacy strategies, are pivotal factors that reinforce students choices. The role of Türkiyes Islamic culture, human rights policies, and social media usage has been found to further enhance Thai students interest in the country. However, language barriers and cultural adaptation challenges remain the primary difficulties encountered by students. In conclusion, Türkiyes religious, cultural, and educational offerings shape Thai students academic experiences and contribute to strengthening cultural ties between Türkiye and Thailand. Soft power strategies are expected to foster the deepening of these relationships in the long term.
