 هدف البحث إلى التعرف على مدى تضمين محتوى كتب التربية الاجتماعية والوطنية للصفوف الثلاثة العليا من المرحلة الابتدائية بالمملكة العربية السعودية للمهارات الجغرافية ، ولتحقيق هذا الهدف أعدت الباحثة قائمة بالمهارات الجغرافية التي ينبغي تضمينها في محتوى كتب التربية الاجتماعية والوطنية للمرحلة الابتدائية ، تم عرضها على عدد من المحكمين المتخصصين وتعديلها وفق آرائهم ، وأصبحت القائمة في صورتها النهائية مكونة من ثلاثة (3) مهارات جغرافية رئيسة هي : (مهارات الخريطة ، الرسوم البيانية، الصور) ويندرج تحتها سبعة وعشرون (27) مهارة فرعية ، بلغ عدد مهارات الخريطة الفرعية اثنى عشر(12) مهارة ، وعدد مهارات الرسوم البيانية الفرعية ثمانية (8) مهارة ، وعدد مهارات الصور الفرعية سبعة (7) مهارة ، وقد صيغت هذه المهارات في عبارات إجرائية ، تم في ضوئها تم إعداد أداة تحليل للتعرف على المهارات الجغرافية المتضمنة في محتوى كتب التربية الاجتماعية والوطنية للمرحلة الابتدائية وعرضت هذه الأداة على مجموعة من المحكمين المتخصصين وتعديلها وفق آرائهم ، كما قامت الباحثة بحساب الثبات لأداة التحليل عن طريق الاستعانة بأستاذة في تخصص مناهج وطرق التدريس الجغرافيا وتم الاتفاق معها على طريقة التحليل المستخدمة، وإعطاءها التعريفات الإجرائية لفئات التحليل، ثم قامت بتحليل الوحدات المطلوبة بصورة مستقلة، وتم حساب معامل ثبـات التحليل باستخدام معـادلة هولستي Holsiti وبلغ قيمة متوسط معامل الثبات لكل الكتب 0.94، وتعتبر درجة ثبات تحليل عالية ، بعد ذلك تم تحليل الكتب ، وأشارت النتائج إلى وجود تفاوت في توزيع المهارات الجغرافية المتضمنة بمحتوى كتب التربية الاجتماعية والوطنية للمرحلة الابتدائية ، حيث بلغ عدد المهارت الجغرافية في كتاب الصف الرابع تسعة (9) مهارة بنسبة 33% ، بينما بلغ عدد المهارت الجغرافية في كتاب الصف الخامس أربعة عشر (14) مهارة بنسبة 52% ، أما كتاب الصف السادس فقد بلغ عدد المهارت الجغرافية فيه ستة عشر (16) مهارة بنسبة 59% ، كما أظهرت النتائج وجود تفاوت في تضمين المهارات الجغرافية الفرعية في محتوى كل كتاب من كتب التربية الاجتماعية ، ويرجع ذلك إلى طبيعة الموضوعات التي تناولتها كتب التربية الاجتماعية والوطنية.

 The purpose of this research is to examine the extent of geography skills included in Social and Civic Education Textbooks for the three senior grades of the elementary level in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. To achieve this purpose, the researcher prepared a list of the geographical skills that should be incorporated in the content of Social and Civic Education Textbooks for elementary level. Then, the list was presented to a number of specialized arbitrators and was revised according to their opinions. In its final form, it included 3 main geographical skills (map skills, graphs skills, and picture skills). There were 27 sub-skills falling under the main skills including 12 map sub-skills, 8 graph sub-skills, and 7 picture sub-skills. Such skills were formulated in procedural terms, where an analysis tool was prepared in the light of them to examine the geographical skills incorporated in the content of Social and Civic Education Textbooks for elementary level. The tool was presented to a number of specialized arbitrators and was revised according to their opinions. The researcher also computed the tool’s reliability by the help of teachers specializing in curriculum and geography instruction. They agreed with her on the analysis approach and provided her with procedural definitions of the analysis categories. The researcher then analyzed the required units in a separate way. Holsiti formula was used to calculate the coefficient of the analysis reliability where the average value of the reliability coefficient was 0.95 for all textbooks indicating a high analysis reliability score. After that the textbooks were analyzed and the results indicated the existence of variation in the distribution of geographical skills within the content of Social and Civic Education Textbooks for elementary level, with 9 skills in the 4th grade textbook (33%) and 14 skills in the 5th grade textbook (52%) and 16 skills in the 6th grade textbook (59%). The results also showed the presence of variation in the inclusion of geographical sub-skills in the content of each social education book. This is attributed to the nature of the topics tackled by such books.
