Abstract:

In the post-truth era, certain scientific facts can be distorted and presented to the public through traditional or social media in line with political and economic interests. In this context, discourses that deny or trivialize climate change can easily spread among large segments of society. This phenomenon not only deepens human-induced environmental crises in the Anthropocene era but also undermines the effectiveness of policies aimed at combating climate change. This study examines the climate change discourses of leaders in the post-truth era within the context of the Anthropocene. The discourses of Donald Trump, Jair Bolsonaro, Giorgia Meloni, and Viktor Orbán are analyzed using Critical Discourse Analysis CDA. The analysis reveals the populist and manipulative rhetoric employed by these leaders regarding climate denial and environmental policies. The study addresses Trumps hoax discourse, Bolsonaros Amazon policies, Melonis stance against EU climate regulations, and Orbáns emphasis on national sovereignty. The findings illustrate how leaders political discourse on climate change is shaped by specific political and cultural contexts.
