Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to attempt to investigate causality relationship and direction
between real exchange rate and output by using time series analysis. Data on real GDP
and real effective exchange rate for 1990.Q1-2006.Q3 are used to estimate association in
Turkey. As in earlier studies, we used real GDP and real real effective exchange rate quarterly
data instead of output and real exchange rate. Based on the result of causality analysis, we
conclude real exchange rate has positive effect on output in Turkey.
