Abstract:

This article aims to present some elements of the anthropological approach to citizenship within the framework of political anthropology, highlighting that the civil legal dimension alone is no longer sufficient to understand citizenship in its relationships with identity, nationality, globalization, and migration... in its local, national, transcontinental, and even supranational representations. This includes the abandonment or suspension of citizenship, as in the case of so-called illegal migration, in favor of simply pursuing economic interests or certain forms of freedom. The anthropological analysis of citizenship proves highly significant as it addresses its cultural and social interactions.
