Abstract:

The
basis of the beliefs that are shared by monotheistic religions is the belief in
God. In Christianity, one of the three monotheistic religions, the belief in
God incorporates the doctrine of the Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy
Spirit). Although in Christian sources the first two elements (the Father and
the Son) have received a thorough treatment, not as much explanation can be
found concerning the third (the Holy Spirit).
In the Qur’an, the holy book of Islam, the most recent of the three
monotheistic religions, the Holy Spirit is mentioned as well. There are many
stories about this concept in the Qur’an. Concerning these stories, different
interpretations are made by Islamic scholars. Questions such as “What is the
soul” “Is it a being” “What are its characteristics and duties” are waiting to
be answered. It is necessary to clarify the meaning of this concept, which is
commonly used in both the New Testament and the Qur'an, and what the
similarities and differences between the two may be. In this study, we have
tried to put forth and compare the meaning of and the role played by the
concept of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament and the Qur’an

Semâvî
dinlerin hepsinin ortak olarak kabul ettiği inançların başında Tanrı inancı
gelmektedir.
