Abstract:

Mustafa Kutlu, who has written more than thirty story books since 1970, is one of the productive authors of the contemporary Turkish story. In the long story called “An Extraordinary Award Ceremony” published in 2013, whilst what is happening in a town on the Aegean shores is being told, a local festivity’s transformation into a national one and the events that took place in the process have been the focus. The main topic of this text, which is among the author's town stories, is the search for meaning by the individual through courtesy of the main character, Nezaket. The fact that the modern era, especially the communication age, draws the masses away from traditional life and pulls them towards popular trends is described in the story with the concepts of work, image, and carnival. In this study, the story of Mustafa Kutlu's “An Extraordinary Award Ceremony” was analysed with the classical examination method. In the introduction part of the text, brief information about Mustafa Kutlu has been given, the elements of classical narrative method have been dealt with in the analysis part, and the evaluations about the text have been included in the conclusion part.

1970 yılından beri otuzu aşkın hikâye kitabına imza atan Mustafa Kutlu, çağdaş Türk hikâyesinin üretken kalemlerinden biridir. 2013 yılında yayımlanan Sıradışı Bir Ödül Töreni adlı uzun hikâyede, Ege kıyılarında yer alan bir kasabada yaşananlar anlatılırken yerel bir şenliğin ulusal boyuta taşınması ve bu süreçte meydana gelen olaylara odaklanılır. Yazarın kasaba hikâyeleri arasında yer alan metnin temel problemi ise başkişi Nezaket üzerinden bireyin anlam arayışıdır. Modern dönemin, özellikle iletişim çağının, kitleleri geleneksel yaşantıdan uzaklaştırıp dönemsel eğilimlere yöneltmesi hikâyede çalışma, imaj kavramları ve karnaval imgesi ile betimlenmiştir. Bu çalışmada Mustafa Kutlu’nun Sıradışı Bir Ödül Töreni adlı hikâyesi klasik inceleme yöntemiyle ele alınmıştır. Metnin giriş bölümünde kısaca Mustafa Kutlu hakkında bilgiler verilmiş, inceleme bölümünde klasik anlatı yöntemi unsurları ele alınmış, sonuç bölümünde de metne dair değerlendirmelere yer verilmiştir.
