Abstract:

Since the signing of the Protocol on Complete Independence in March 1956, the Tunisian leadership has sought to assert its sovereignty within secure and recognized international borders, but it has faced serious challenges and mobility to its western borders as a result of the continuation of the Algerian liberation war, especially since the Tunisian borders have become a strategic element in the political confrontation between the two arch-brothers, Habib Bourguiba and Saleh. Ben Youssef, on the one hand, and between the Tunisian leadership and the colonial authority at the beginning, and then between the Tunisian leadership and the National Liberation Front in the second phase, on the other hand. This confrontation ultimately resulted in the signing of a friendship and cooperation agreement and an agreement regarding border demarcation on February 2, 1969, thus turning the page on the border dispute. Between Algeria and Tunisia, a new era begins called cooperation and friendship.
