Abstract:

In this study, the role of altruism and psychological resilience variables in predicting gratitude levels of individuals in adulthood was investigated. The research was conducted within the framework of the relational scanning model. The study group of the research consists of 191 adult individuals, 76 males and 115 females. Gratitude Scale, Altruism Scale, and Brief Resilience Scale were applied to the participants as data collection tools. The data obtained with the data collection tools were analyzed through the SPSS 25 program. Frequency and percentage analysis from descriptive statistics were used for demographic variables expressing information about the participants. Pearson correlation analysis was used to examine the relationships between variables. The predictive relationship between variables was tested through multiple linear regression analysis. According to the findings obtained from Pearson correlation analysis, a positive, moderately significant, relationship was found between gratitude and altruism. A positive, moderately significant relationship was found between gratitude and resilience. It was observed that there was a low-level positive relationship between altruism and resilience. As a result of the regression analysis, it was concluded that altruism and psychological resilience are significant predictors of gratitude. It was determined that these variables explained 16 of the total variance in gratitude score. According to standard coefficients, the order of importance is psychological resilience and altruism.
