 This study attempts to examine the impact of employing music and visual arts lessons within the context of interdisciplinary approach in primary school 1st grade social studies course on student achievement. The working group held 55 students. Experimental method was used in the present study. This study deployed Quasi-experimental Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design as a quantitative data collection method. While the learning outcomes of Sun, Moon, Earth and Stars and Seasons in the grade life studies lesson were taught in parallel to curriculum-based education in the control group; these lessons were taught with the interdisciplinary approach method by associating the Music and Visual Arts lessons for five weeks in the experimental group. Quantitative data were analyzed through use of SPSS 18 program. The results indicated no significant difference across the pre-test scores of the experimental and control groups, yet a significant difference was noted across the post-test scores in favor of the experimental group.

 Bu çalışmanın amacı, ilkokul 1. sınıf hayat bilgisi dersinde disiplinlerarası yaklaşım bağlamında müzik ve görsel sanatlar derslerinden yararlanmanın öğrenci başarısına olan etkisini incelemektir. Çalışma grubunda toplam 55 öğrenci bulunmaktadır. Bu araştırmada deneysel yöntem benimsenmiştir. Araştırmada, veri toplama yöntemi olarak Ön Test-Son Testi Kontrol Gruplu Yarı Deneysel Desen kullanılmıştır. 1. Sınıf hayat bilgisi dersinde yer alan Güneş, Ay, Dünya ve Yıldızlar ile Mevsimler konu kazanımları, kontrol grubu öğrencileriyle programa dayalı eğitimle işlenirken; deney grubunda bu dersler beş hafta boyunca Müzik ve Görsel Sanatlar dersleri ilişkilendirilerek disiplinler arası yaklaşım yöntemiyle işlenmiştir. Araştırma sürecinde elde edilen nicel veriler SPSS 18 programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen verilerin analizi sonucunda; deney ile kontrol grubu öğrencilerine uygulanan ön test sonrası başarı puanları arasındaki farklılığın anlamlı olmadığı son test puanlarının arasındaki farklılığın deney grubu lehine anlamlı olduğu gözlenmiştir.
