Abstract:

Although, karâmat means extraordinary states granted by Allah to His
pious men, istidrâj is a condition displayed by the unbeliever and sinful. Sufis have
produced evidences through Kur‘ân and Hadis in order to prove that karâmat is
religiously permitted. Nevertheless to work karâmats is not compulsory in order to
be considered wali. In case of necessity, he can manifest karâmat with an intention
of a enlightening people. Unless it is necessary, a wali should hide the karâmats
gifted by Allah. Extraordinary actions are diveded into two categorien:
Materialistic karâmats and moral karâmats. If those extraordinary conditions
displayed by men give rise to their haugtiness and rebellion, this is rather like an
istidrâc than a karâmat. In case of the fact that the wonderfull appearances are
manifested by those who do not know Allah with His all names and attributes, do
not worship for Allah properly, do not restrain from sinful acts and act heedlessly,
 they are called istidrâj.

Kerâmet, Allah’ın salih kullarına ihsan ettiği harikulade hallerdir. İstidrâc ise
inanmayan, günahkâr insanlarda ortaya çıkan bir haldir. Mutasavvıflar, kerâmetin
caiz olduğuna Kur’an ve Hadislerden delil getirmişlerdir.
