Abstract:

The aim of the study was to identify the reality of rehabilitation programs (educational, religious, training, rehabilitation, health care, social welfare and sports programs) in Malaz Prison, to identify the factors limiting the inmate's benefit from these programs and to know whether there are statistically significant differences in the responses of the individuals of the study sample to their interlocutors according to their personal and functional characteristics. The researcher used the social survey method and applied the questionnaire to a sample of (254) inmates in Al-Malaz prison. Among the most important findings of the study are the following: The members of the study sample strongly agreed to the reality of religious programs and also agreed to a medium degree to the reality of (educational programs, health care programs, social welfare programs and sports programs), meanwhile they agreed to a low degree on the programs of (Training and rehabilitation), as well as they agreed to a high degree on the factors limiting the benefit of the inmates from the rehabilitation programs in the prison of Malaz, the most important: the weak incentives that encourage participation in these programs, and the weak ability of workers to implement the objectives of rehabilitation programs, There were statistically significant differences among majority members of the study sample in the center of their vision for the reality of rehabilitation programs, and the lack of statistically significant differences among the majority of the study sample in the center of their vision of the factors that limit the benefit of inmates from the rehabilitation programs. The researcher recommended a set of recommendations, the most important of which are: activation of the training and rehabilitation programs provided to the inmates, and providing material and moral incentives to the distinguished inmates to encourage them to participate in the rehabilitation programs, and urging the inmates to study all kinds of education up to the university stages, and rehabilitation of workers in correctional institutions.
