Abstract:

This article analyses the traditions invented by Moroccan nationalists in the implementation of their policies, considering the concept of invented traditions and their role in shaping Moroccan nationalism. It explores how Moroccan nationalists strategically constructed and promoted traditions to advance their political agendas and foster a sense of national identity. By analysing specific examples of invented traditions, such as cultural practices, historical narratives, symbols, and festivals, this study uncovers the intricate ways in which these traditions were utilized to shape policy implementation and rally public support. By drawing attention to the construction and production of heritage in the context of Moroccan nationalism, it seeks to shed light on how invented traditions play an important role in shaping national narrative and identity and offers insights into the dynamics of tradition-building in pursuit of political goals. Ultimately, this study contributes to the broader understanding of how invented traditions influence policy agendas and shape the trajectory of Moroccan nationalist movement.
