Abstract:

This research paper aims to highlight the interest of France in the framework of its expansionist policy in the Algerian Sahara in general and specifically in the region of Touat during the second half of the nineteenth century. This interest of France hid military, political and economic objectives. To achieve this, France built fortresses and military bases in the areas bordering Touat, this latter was realized to surround the area, And besieged. And followed a bold strategy to enter the region of Touat and sought the travel of military figures such as the flight of officers "Colónio" and "Buran" in 1856 to get familiarized to the nature of the Territory and mapping it. And after establishing the appropriate conditions for the occupation within the territory of the Touat, France adopted an organized policy depends on incursion into the south of Algeria and then moved from the north, in this research paper we`ll try to highlight the reaction of the inhabitants of Touat regarding the French colonizer.
