 هدف البحث الحالي إلى التعرف على فاعلية نموذج سكمان الاستقصائي في تدريس الجغرافيا على تنمية التحصيل ومهارات حل المشكلات لدى تلاميذ الصف الثاني الإعدادي، وتكونت عينة البحث من مجموعتين من تلاميذ الصف الثاني الإعدادي إحداها تجريبية درست وفقاً لنموذج سكمان الاستقصائي، والأخرى ضابطة درست وفقاً للطريقة المعتادة، وتكونت أدوات البحث من اختبار تحصيلي واختبار مهارات حل المشكلات الذين تم تطبيقهما قبليا وبعديا على تلاميذ المجموعتين التجريبية والضابطة، حيث أثبتت نتائج البحث وجود فروق دالة إحصائيا بين متوسطي درجات تلاميذ المجموعتين  التجريبية والضابطة في التطبيق البعدي لكل من الاختبار التحصيلي واختبار مهارات حل المشكلات لصالح المجموعة التجريبية، كما أثبتت نتائج البحث وجود فروق دالة إحصائياً بين متوسطي درجات تلاميذ المجموعة التجريبية في التطبيق القبلي والبعدي للاختبارين لصالح التطبيق البعدي، مما يدل على فاعلية نموذج سكمان الاستقصائي في تدريس الجغرافيا على تنمية التحصيل ومهارات حل المشكلات لدى تلاميذ الصف الثاني الإعدادي.
                  The Present research amis at recognizing the effectiveness of Suchman’s inquiry  model  in teaching Geography on developing achievement and the skills of solving problems of the second year preparatory pupils. The sample used two groups.The first group was experimental that was taught according to Suchman’s Inquiry model.The other was a control group that was taught using the traditional way. The achievement test and problem-solving test were prepared and applied on the two groups. The researcher made pre and post tests. The results proved that there are statistically significant diferences between means of scores of the experimental group and the control group in the post administration of the achievement test and solving- problem skills test in favour of the experimental group. The research results also proved that there are statistically significant differences between means of scores of experimental group students in pre-post administration of two tests favour of post administration, showing the effectiveness of suchman’s inquiry model in teaching geography on developing achievement and the skills of solving problem of the second year preparatory pupils.
