Abstract:

Sustainable
environment is defined as the process of improvement, protection and
development of all environmental values that constitute the environment of both
present and future generations in every field without jeopardizing the
existence and quality of the resources that future generations will need. University
campuses are one of the areas where environmental problems occur at the micro
scale which have an important place in the urban fabric. For this reason,
university campuses have a great importance in the context of sustainable green
infrastructure in the urban fabric. It can be ensured that the settlements
established by following sustainable environmental strategies are in a
structure suitable for the environment, climate and human health. In this
regard, national and international environmental sustainability indexes
developed for the campuses are of great importance. In this study, national and
international environmental sustainability indexes developed for university
campuses and UI GreenMetric index developed by University of Indonesia were examined.
In these indexes, besides the rankings, evaluation system and importance
percentages of the universities in our country, evaluations were made in the
example of Akdeniz University campus which has not been included in this
evaluation yet. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of Akdeniz
University campus in these indexes were discussed and suggestions were made to
increase the potential score in the evaluation system.

Sürdürülebilir çevre;
