Abstract:

Abstract
This research paper examines the effects of globalization on family structures, with a focus on the transition from the extended family to the nuclear family The study explores the concept of the extended family, which serves as the foundational unit in many traditional societies, characterized by cohesion, solidarity, and mutual support among its members. It then discusses the features of the nuclear family, which has become more prevalent in contemporary
Additionally, the paper highlights the role of globalization in reshaping family relationships by altering behavioral patterns, increasing consumerism, and spreading individualistic values. It examines how reliance on new institutions rather than the traditional extended family has grown in areas such as caregiving and socialization, while also addressing the challenges families face amid these changes, including weakened family ties, rising social isolation, and the dominance of individualism.
The study concludes that while globalization has contributed to the fragmentation of certain cultural traits and traditional family bonds, it has also created opportunities to promote equality and empower individuals to make autonomous decisions. Finally, the paper emphasizes the need for well-planned social and cultural strategies that balance globalization with the preservation of family values.
