 إن جوهر عملية المراجعة يعتمد على كل من مفهوم المخاطر ومفهوم حوكمة الشركات معاً وذلك لأن التخطيط للمراجعة يتطلب: فهم عميق لنشاط العميل والبيئة التي يعمل فيها بما يتضمنه ذلك من التعرف على أسلوب الإدارة وكيفية تطبيق معايير الحوكمة من خلال هذا الأسلوب، كما يتطلب تقدير المخاطر التي تتعرض لها منشأة العميل والتي قد تؤثر عليه كمشروع مستمر، فضلاً عن احتمال ظهور بنود القوائم المالية بصورة مضللة. ويمكن القول إن المراجعين الذين لديهم خبرة في صناعة معينة عادة ما يملكون قدراً من المعرفة عن هذه الصناعة، وبالتالي يكون لديهم القدرة على اكتشاف غش القوائم المالية عن غيرهم من المراجعين غير المتخصصين، وقد أشارت أحدث الدراسات أن معرفة المراجع بصناعة العميل تحسن من تقديره لمخاطر المراجعة وتؤثر في طبيعة ونوعية التغيرات التي يدخلها على إجراءات المراجعة المخططة وموازنة الوقت، كما أن المراجعين المتخصصين لديهم سرعة في الاستجابة لتقديراتهم عن خطر المراجعة بعكس المراجعين غير المتخصصين.
                  The essence of the audit process depends on both the concept of risk and the concept of corporate governance together because the planning of the audit requires: a deep understanding of the client's activity and the environment in which he works, including the identification of the management method and how to apply the standards of governance through this method, Are exposed to the customer's facility and may affect it as a going concern, as well as the possibility that the items in the financial statements will be misstated. It can be said that auditors with experience in a particular industry usually have some knowledge of the industry and therefore have the ability to detect financial fraud from other non-specialist auditors. Recent studies have indicated that auditor knowledge of the client's industry improves his audit risk assessment And affect the nature and quality of the changes it introduces to the planned audit procedures and time balance. Specialized auditors also have a rapid response to their estimates of the risk of audit unlike non-specialist reviewers.
