Abstract:

The aim of this study is to examine the athlete identities and sportsmanship orientations of kick boxers in terms of various variables. The study has been carried out on 248 (33.5) women, 493 (66.5) men and 795 volunteer athletes in total who do kickboxing throughout Turkey. As data collection tools within the scope of the study; Athlete Identity Scale; The 7-point Likert-type scale consisting of 7 questions have been evaluated over the highest score. Multidimensional Scale of Sportsmanship Orientation; The 5-point Likert-type scale, consisting of 20 questions, occurs from 4 sub-dimensions: social disposition, respect for rules, responsibility and respect for the opponent. And the personal information form prepared by the researcher has been used. Quantitative research method was used in the study and descriptive survey model has been adopted. IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, version 25.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y., USA) program has been used to analyze the data obtained in the study. Descriptive analyzes of the demographic information of the research group (mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentiles) have been done. In the study, Athlete Identity scale and Multidimensional Sportsmanship Orientation scale and its sub-dimensions have been discussed, and Mann-Whitney U analysis for demographic information and group comparisons have been evaluated using Kruskall Wallis test and Post Hoc Bonferonni comparative Mann Whitney U test. And to examine the relationship between them, the Spearman-Rho correlation coefficient has been evaluated. According to the results obtained in the study, it has been seen that the highest average score of the athletes was in commitment to responsibilities in sports, while the lowest scores were in the sub-dimension of respect for the opponent.
