Abstract:

The Yücel Organization was a civil society movement established during the Second World War in response to prolonged oppression and discrimination against the Turkish community living in Yugoslavia. The primary aim of the organization was to preserve the social, cultural, religious, and economic existence of the Turkish population in Yugoslavia and to foster a sense of national identity. Members of the organization were closely monitored by the authoritarian administration of the Federal Peoples Republic of Yugoslavia and subjected to a controversial judicial process within the framework of existing legal regulations and practices. This process culminated in the execution of four Yücel members and the dissolution of the organization. These developments left profound and lasting impacts on the Turkish community in Macedonia. The dissolution of the Yücel Organization and the execution of its members caused the Yugoslavia government to intensify its policies of oppression by targeting the social structure through cultural and economic interventions. This situation resulted in the erosion of communal belonging and gave rise to sociopolitical traumas. This study examines the traumatic effects of the legal process surrounding the Yücel Organization on the Turkish community in Macedonia, as well as the accompanying phenomenon of migration, using an interdisciplinary approach. Simultaneously, it aims to provide a new perspective by presenting a unique contribution to the academic literature.
