Abstract:

Keçeci-zâde Izzet Molla (1786-1829) revealed his works
in a period of change and transformation that prepared the ground of the
westernization process in the social and cultural life of Ottoman society. The
poet named one of his Divans he wrote as Hazân-ı
Âsâr during this period which is called the "last classical
period" in the history of literature, and which is described as a
"jubilee period" in classical literary. Besides this work, although
the poetry of Keçeci-zâde, known by Dîvân-ı
Bahâr-ı Efkâr; Mihnet-Keşân, Gülşen-i Aşk and Nâz u Niyâz
Mesnevîs, has been the subject of many researches so far, the studies conducted
on his prosaically works are rather limited. The poet’s works of Devhatü’l Mehâmid fî Tercemeti’l Vâlid
in the biographical genre, two historical Laiha’s
and Şerh-i Lugâz-ı Râgıb Pasha
attributed to himself are amongst the important examples of the classical
Turkish Prose. The poet wrote Devhatü’l
Mehâmid fî Tercemeti’l Vâlid, where he described his father's life, in the
genre of inşâ/ornamental prose. As a feature of this stylistic work, in the
work are samples of literary arts such as assonance, repetition, contrast and
puns, and telmihs, prayer scrolls and metaphorical expressions occasionally,
with various poems, idioms and proverbs. Abstractions, metaphorical style,
standard syllabic deviations, and contradictory interlaces are features that bring
prose closer to verse.

In this study, the place of Devhatü’l Mehâmid fî Tercemeti’l Vâlid in biographical genres in
classical Turkish literature will be determined first. The narrative features
Keçeci-zâde İzzet Molla used in this work will be examined, and the work will
be transferred to the transcription letters and contemporary Turkish, and will
be presented to the attention and the interest of researchers.

Gülşen-i Aşk ve Nâz u Niyâz mesnevîleriyle tanınan Keçeci-zâde’nin şiiri,
pek çok araştırmaya konu olmuşken mensur eserleri üzerine çalışmalar
sınırlıdır. Şairin, biyografik türde Devhatü’l
Mehâmid fî Tercemeti’l Vâlid’i, tarihî iki Lâyiha’sı ile kendisine atfedilen Şerh-i Lugâz-ı Râgıb Paşa adlı eseri klâsik Türk nesrinin önemli
örnekleri arasındadır. Şair, babasının hayatını anlattığı Devhatü’l Mehâmid fî Tercemeti’l Vâlid’i inşâ üslûbu ile kaleme

Bu çalışmada, öncelikle Devhatü’l Mehâmid fî Tercemeti’l Vâlid’in klâsik Türk edebiyatında
biyografik türler içindeki yeri belirlenecektir. Keçeci-zâde İzzet Molla’nın bu
eserde kullandığı anlatım
