Abstract:

Distance education represents a relatively recent pedagogical modality integrated into various educational levels, including higher education institutions. Its primary objective is to provide accessible learning opportunities to students regardless of their geographical location, while ensuring the necessary degree of flexibility and the availability of specific infrastructural, technical, and pedagogical requirements to deliver instruction effectively. In response to the accelerating global transformations across multiple sectors, technological, social, and economic, the Algerian university system has been striving to adopt and enhance this mode of education. Algerian universities are making significant efforts to align their educational strategies with the demands of remote learning, recognizing it as a vital component of contemporary academic practice. This study aims to explore the concept of distance education within the Algerian university context and to identify the essential prerequisites for its successful implementation. It seeks to analyze the institutional, technological, and human resource dimensions that are necessary to establish a robust and sustainable distance education framework capable of responding to the evolving educational landscape.
